HEC decided to abolish 2 years BA/BS.c | MA/MS.c Programs from Universities

 

HEC decided to abolish 2 years BA/BS.c , MA/MS.c Programs from all Public and Private Sector Universities of Pakistan

Higher Education Commission of Pakistan after its latest meeting on quality of education just announced the new decision regarding the 2 Years Bachelors and MS.c Programs. Higher Education Commission (HEC) decided abolish 2 Years BS/BS.c and MA/MS.c degree programs from 2018 and 2020 respectfully. HEC has made Policy that all the government and Private Institutes and Universities will offer 4 year graduation and Masters degree Programs.

The decision has been taken to bring improvement in the quality of Education and research Sector of Pakistan.

 

Complete Explanation of Phasing out of 2 Years Program:

Most of the students who were interested to study MS.c are confused about the HEC Notification regarding the Phasing out 2-Years Degree Programs BA/BS.c and MA/MS.c by the year 2018 and 2020 Respectively. This development will happen in two different phases, In First Phase there will be no admission in 2 years B.A or BS.c program from 2018 in any of Government or Private Sector University of College of Pakistan. In Second Phase there will no admission to the students in 2 Years M.A or MS.c Program in of the University in Pakistan and from now onward both the degree awarding programs will be of 4 Years.

Reasons Behind the Phasing out of 2 Year Programs:

There two major reasons in the phasing out of 2 year programs that caused HEC to take immediate actions:

  1. To Improve Quality of Education in Pakistan

  2. To Promote the Research and Development culture of Pakistan

 

177 Universities across Pakistan fail to meet HEC’s Standards

HEC’s new decision will promote the research and development culture in Pakistan and will being an improvement in the quality of education sector of Pakistan. firstly, Higher Education Commission of Pakistan should have make some research in the number of MS.C and PhD Students in the universities of Pakistan.

There is a mixed response from the students of different fields some of them praised the decision of HEC to abolish the 2 Years BA/BS.c and MA/MS.c programs in favor of quality and research & Development of Education Sector of Pakistan but on the other side a large of students said this is just an unfair move and will prevent many of the students to get admission in MA and MS.c for the further higher studies.
