Punjab University Bans Student Organizations to work inside Campus
Punjab University is Pakistan’s oldest and famous university working since 1882 (135 Years up till now) with more than 30,000 students enrolled in the university. The Administration of Punjab University banned the operations of Students Organizations to work inside campus. The Ban is the reaction to a brawl between two students groups (Jameeat and Pushtoons Group ) on March 21 and approximately 18 students were injured.
Apart from imposing ban to organizations, administration of PU has also made a decision to install biometric systems in hostel, So that no irrelevant person can enter in hostels. And Moreover the students will also be prohibited from entering hostels after 10 PM.
A Student group was celebrating a Pushtoons Day outside Faisal Auditorium when a rival student group arrived and began to chant slogans against the other party. Soon both the groups were raising slogans against each other which led both the parties to the brawl. The Students were seen attacking each other with the sticks and bricks. Upon worsening the situation, the administration of the Punjab University called the Police to handle the situation who resorted to aerial firing and tear-gassing to control the students involved in the situation.
On Wednesday, Punjab University spokesperson Malik Ahmad Khan said no one is allowed to create disturbance at the campus. A case has also been registered against the students as well as unknown persons at the Muslim Town Police Station.
